New Booking Moving Forward

It is funny that I am writing this new book and some how started in the middle of it; somewhere around chapter 3 – 4 maybe? I was working on chapter one last night and when I came down stairs for our TV time I told my wife I was writing chapter one, she responded with I thought you were almost done? And I thought I was until I noticed I never brought the reader into the story.

Now it is once again moving along. I have each of the characters created and now you know a little of their back stories of who they are. I really didn’t want to get to deep with their lives because I don’t want to bore the reader with useless pages.

Just an update, I am sure after I get it more completed I might have a little sample on this site to share with you?

Tomorrow I Turn A Half Century Old

This is my last day in the forties as my wife likes to remind me. Now that I am creeping to the age of 50 it is funny my mind still wants to work and act like I am twenty, but then my body catches up and reminds me that I am not twenty any longer.

So many people mostly older people always tells you that you are still young, or they say if I were as young as you! Really I still feel that fifty is very old. I watch now as our kids are in the work force and finishing their college carriers or starting them. Yes fifty is old!

But I am not letting this older age get me down. I am signed up for new college courses my self and I can’t wait to get started. If you have been reading this blog, you will notice that I am a aspiring writer. I still have my day job, but I have always loved the craft of writing and bringing words together to maybe enhance or just make someone else’s day a little better. I have published Non-Fiction and now I am taking a crack at fiction.

I am also planning on putting a twist on my fiction. I hope you keep up with this blog as I post once in a while.

So am I going to allow fifty to get me down. I don’t think so I think fifty is the new ya FIFTY! I never buy into the crap that fifty is the new twenty or sixty is the new thirty! This is crap! fifty id fifty and your age is your age. As we get older we become very wise.

Writing Fiction

As I said in the last post everyone has a story in them somewhere. We all come from some lace and we all have had some sort of lives little straggles. It seems now that I am learning more about creative writing I see a new story everywhere I go. As I live life now I am opening my mind up to exploring different ideas with each new place we go. Even some of the old places. I thought of a story just the other day while at the mall. Fiction is just that fiction, not true, made up. But remember all of it does not have to be made up. We can use places we visit and things we know to write now stories. In reading Stephen King’s book on writing I found a new way to look around me and I also found that I can write about what I know without writing manuals.

I am working now on a book or maybe a short story is really depends on how it unfolds. I am also attending creative writing classes to attempt to learn even more about the craft of writing. It is of course just as much of a craft as working with wood or welding metal. There is an art to writing and there are rules that are meant to be broken.

The main thing to remember if you are entering into this craft called writing is this; do it for you for the love of writing and telling a story. If you get wrapped up in the thoughts of making money you would be better off learning the craft of wood working or maybe welding?

A final note is to write and write often hence this blog. I try to also work on my book at least every evening writing as much as a scene a evening. If I don’t I think I would loose track of my story all together. Last I downloaded a app for my cell phone that allows my to type thoughts for future stories when ever I am out and about. This will always give me a place or a topic for my next story.

The Minimum Wage

In the World we live in there is something known as the minimum wage. This is the lowest wage that any employer is allowed by law to pay someone in a starting low scale type of job. These jobs are normally reserved for our youth who are just learning about working and living at home. These jobs I think were designed to be a hard ass job that our youth will not want to be stuck in all of their lives and understand the importance or getting a good education and moving onto bigger and better paying jobs. I know college people with degrees that are not making $15.00 an hour.

But it appears to me now that there are many people out there who thought these jobs are the greatest in the World. Or they just had no motivation to get anything better? Any way they are now tired of seeing people who worked their asses off trying to better their selves to make a better wage have more then they do. And now for some strange reason the President is saying that the minimum wage should be raised? Is the president really trying to help the economy or trying to kill it off and close so many small businesses?

Should all of American workers who are making minimum wage be making $15.00 an hour or more? HELL NO! Should the minimum wage be raised maybe to $8.00 an hour?

In the end if you are making minimum wage do your self a favor and get some education and find your self a career where you can make some real money.

New Book Coming Soon

I have been writing and writing and yes writing my new book. Writing a book is a much large task then most people could even wrap their head around.

My first book Computers For The Everyday Person did well not enough to make me a stay at home writer and I really don’t think I would want to do that. I truly enjoy doing what I do for a living.

I just think writing is a way to share your knowledge out to the World and to allow others to learn through your written words on the page. And I am sure the books I am producing will live on for many years after I am gone. Just look at Half Price Books and see how many past authors are still there.

Time to stop writing here and get to writing my thought into the book.

Remodeling Getting Ready For New Carpet

Someone once told me that you should never blog about your own life? I enjoy showing that we are normal everyday people. I took a few days and worked at getting the stair case ready for new carpet to be laid.

I don’t mind doing home improvement projects I just wish I was a little more handy? I am a computer guy by trade and I can build them, program them and even once made a computer sing! But put me in front of a saw and I can be very lost. I did get it done and I have a few spots to maybe redo; but over all it came out fine.

The First IMac

I am not sure now that Steve Jobs invented the first IMac? In cleaning out some old technology at the school we came across this little old learning aid.

Although it is not a real computer I think this is where old Steve got the design from? And I thought it was designed by a group at Apple? It is fun to come across old technology! What can you find around your office?

Visit to The Moundsville Prison

Life behind bars! Those three words are very scary. We took a trip to a local prison today. We have been in many prisons on tours before but this one was different. It’s difference is that is recently closed in 1995. YOu can still feel the pain and sorrow once you cross the main gate and enter the cell blocks.

I have watch a few You Tube videos on prisons after our visit and I was surprised to find some stories and felt it could happen to anyone. Once such story was of a real-estate agent who left the bar one night and had a little to much to drink. On his way home he hit someone and killed them. Now he is serving time inside. Think how many times you left a bar or party thinking I can make it home. Stop next time and just spend the night where you are. You do not want to go inside!

Visit Local Wineries

Today we took a ride to visit a local winery store that was recently put into a local shopping plaza. At first I thought from where this store is located that the prices would be out of our range. We were pleased to learn that the prices were on track with many other wineries that we have visited from Virginia to Pa.

This is a quick pic I grabbed while in the store.
